Pipiriki Ranger, John Lythgoe, is looking into the possibility of building a bridge across ihe Wanganui River for trampers. At present trampers from the Taranaki bank have to take a jet boat across the river to continue tramping. There are three possible sites for the crossing at -present. At Mangapurua, the Matatietie area and the point where the existing walkway meets the river at Tieke Hut. A report will be submitted to the Walkway Commission after the flood levels have been studied and costings have been carried out.
