Not guilty
A not guilty verdict has been returned by the jury hearing the Rangitikei River manslaughter trial in I Wanganui. Stephen William Jackson, 26, was charged after the death of Miss Teremoana Aupini in a rafting accident on the river in October 1983. Jackson, who now lives in Tauranga and operates a surfski hire business, was then recreation director for Ohakunebased Educational Tours Unlimited.
