Ohakune featured on radio show

The Waimarino region was the subject of two recent programmes in the 'Roundabout'series broadcast on Nationai Radio's YA stations. These hour-long programmes, between 5 — 6pm each weekday evening, are compered by Philip Liner who travels the length and breadth of New Zealand — and sometimes beyond — interviewing local people and describing what he discovers about the area's history, industry, recreational activities, scenic attractions etc. The programmes ensure nationwide attention and publicity.

In the first programme Philip Liner spoke with Mayor of Ohakune Bill Taylor, Hobbit motelier Phil Jackson, Ohakune's senior ranger for the Tongariro Nationai Park, Lisle Irwin, and Waimarino Golf Club president Ian . Strachan as well as club captain Terry Geraghty. In the second programme he spoke with Turoa Skifield's marketing mana^ger Andy Chapman, Ohakune Growers Association president Peter Hammond and marketing consultant Terry Drayton and, finally, Pipiriki Jetboat Tour operator Ken Hayworth.
