Ohakune and Raetihi horse riders fared very well at last weekend's Taihape Agricultural and Pastoral Show. Ruapehu region riders took first and secortd place in the Novice Horses International event for animals over 147.5cms. Pauline Mowatt of Raetihi on 'Avalon' won the
event, with Heather Montgomery from Ohakune on 'Telford' finishing equal second with Angela Illston of Taihape on 'Charlie'. Other local successes came in the International Horse Jumping, where Pauline Mowatt again came first on 'Avalon' and in the 'Horse' event, when R. J. McGill of Raetihi finished third with 'Sundance'.
