Honey keeps the youngsters happy

Every weekday during the school holidays, Honey Winter, the owner of the 'Honey Pot' ceramic studio in Raetihi, has been running a programme where youngsters can learn to paint their own ceramics. Classes are held every afternoon for two hours. For a small fee, children can get their own choice of ceramic ornament and as

much paint as they want. They can come back for as many days as it takes them to finish the job. There are children of all ages, the youngest so far has been Tammy Pikari aged two, who enjoyed painting a big brown dog! "The kids pick all the colours themselves," says Honey, "and we finish off the pieces by doing the eyes, and spraying and neatening the edges — so every piece goes home looking good." There are between 1 5 and 25 children most days. Honey's helper, Gail Mc-

Fadyen, paints the eyes on the ornaments for the children and helps with supervising the kids.

Honey also has adult classes during the day and evening classes every Tuesday and Wednesday.
