Dirty feet!
Several Ohakune shopkeepers were up in arms this week about the tar and dirt whieh was tracked into their shops on the feet of customers. The tar came from the road surface at the intersection of Clyde and Goldfinch Streets. Mr Ken George of Kapai bookshop recently spent $5,000 carpeting his shop and claims it has now been ruined because of the tar. New World supermarket has had to employ cleaners to remove a large amount of dust that has accumulated on the shelves because of the road's condition. The problem has been reported to the Council and action will be taken to repair the section of road. The contractors who laid the existing surface will return to re-surface the road and in the meantime Ohakune Borough will be laying sand on the road to lessen the problem.
