Anyone for polo?
The Waimarino Polo Club is looking for new members. It is not necessary to have a horse to become a member, and experience is not necessary. "People just need to be keen to ride and keen to learn," says Enid Windle, the club's public relations officer. The club membership is presently sixteen, but poorly attended practises make it very difficult for the keener players to improve themselves and their horses. Therefore the club is getting poor competition results. The new polo season has now started and the Waimarino team will be travelling out of the area quite often for matches. Officers elected at the recent AGM for this season are: President — H. Godfrey, Vice President — J. Wiggins, Secretary — C. McLean, Club Captain— R. Kooley. The club will be hosting the Waimarino Association day in Raetihi on 23 and 24 February. The venue is yet to be decided.
