PONY CLUB

Having the knowledge and being able to impart it to a pupil in a clear and effective way can be two very different things. Eleven adult members of the Ohakune and Raetihi Pony Clubs found just how true this is at a recent instructors course, held by Miss Cheryl Monds. The Club j appreciate the efforts of the guineapig riders who braved most inclement conditions to demonstrate for this course, the second stage of which will be held on 1 and 2 December. Miss Monds is also willing to hold a riding course that weekend if enough people are interested. The skill and fun of games on horseback was much in evidence on Saturday 24 November at Raetihi during the local Games Day and again at Owhango on the following day. This event saw young riders gathered from all over the King Country for an Area Games Day run on the same lines as the British Prince Philip Mounted Games. Young and old alike oan join club members at Ian and Anne Roke's on Saturday 8 December to try their hand at Hunter Trials, the first of their kind to be held in the Waimarino. The 1984 season ends for Pony Club with a Ribbon Day at Rangataua Domain on 1 5 December. Ribbons to be presented on that day are the last ribbons of the old Rangataua Sports Club which were kindly donated to the Pony Club.
