KING COUNTRY POWER BOARD BRIEFS
The following extracts were taken from the King Country Electric Power Board general manager's monthly report. Miro Park Subdivision All cables, service pillars and the transformer have now been installed in this subdivision. The overhead line along Foyle Street to supply the subdivision is also completed; it- only remains to terminate the high voltage cable to complete this job. Rangataua Two poles were erected and 80 metres of low voltage conductor was run to supply Mr Beckett's new residence. Whangaehu Valley Road The new section of high
voltage line along this road has now been completed and livened. The old line has been disconnected and will be removed in the near future. Ohakune Carrot One low voltage pole and two spans of low voltage conductor were removed from adjacent to the 'Carrot' site to permit a clear view of the mountain. The line was redundant. Tangiwai Feeder On 13 September 1984 at approximately 4pm, a stock truck struck and broke a pole near Tainui Street. Power was restored to Karioi and Tangiwai via Rangataua. Power was restored to normal at approximately 7pm.
Winstone Samsung Pulp Mill The second tariff meter has now been returned to service following its damage by water and subsequent checking by NZE. The whole of the metering panel is now encased in an extra large polythene bag. Railway Crossings Planning is continuing on the upgrading of the railway crossings required by the New Zealand Railways. A standard proposal for all single wire earth return crossings is now with the Railways and we await their advice before proceeding. Ohakune Streetlighting An approach has been made to the Board by the Ohakune Borough Council
to upgrade the main highway streetlighting through the business area of Ohakune. This scheme is now being designed and will then be forwarded for consideration. The existing lighting is old and difficult to keep operating. Major Realignment of State Highway 49 This realignment near Lakes Road will force the Board to rebuild 1.4km of the high voltage line which feeds Tangiwai. Finaldetails are still to be completed but this will involve the Board in a considerable expenditure. Initial estimates indicate a cost of at least $30,000 of which the Board is required to pay half.
