Fauna survey in Tongariro this month

In response to a letter forwarded to Mr L.R. Todd, President, Waimarino Ward, Central North Island Wildlife Conservancy on 1 6 September 1984, Mr Todd has advised the Committee that a Fauna Survey will commence in SF 42 (Tongariro Forest) as soon as is practicable — (probably-mid-late October 84). Mr Todd tabled the letter at a

Conservancy Council meeting last week. The news is received by the Promotion Committee with pleasure and relief, as a management plan would not be comprehensive without accurate wildlife information. The Promotion Committee believe that such a survey, which Mr Todd advised had been accorded urgency by the Conservancy Council, will provide an overall assessment of wildlife/ habitat. This would be the first such project conducted in Tongariro Forest.
