BRAILLE WEEK

David Nicholson, Regional Public Relations Officer for the Foundation for the Blind, was recently fn the Waimarino area to discuss with local organisers the publicity campaign that the Foundation is undertaking for their annual collection this year to be held on Monday 29 October. He also showed the organisers what the money from the collection is used for each year. One item in particular, a talking calculator, has proved extremely useful to the blind along with talking alarm docks. Braille week commences on Monday 22 October, and will include a film to be shown on Television New Zealand, on how it feels to be unsighted. Money raised nationwide this year will continue to be | used to purchase such . necessary aids as walking sticks, training of seeing eye dogs and general training for the blind.
