FORMER OHAKUNE CONSTABLE IN SEARCH OF A COMMUNITY
Former Ohakune policeman, constable Marty Sutherland, who was recently appointed as Karori community constable is having some difficulty in establishing his presence in that Wellington suburban community. Interviewed in Wellington on 2YA's 'Morning Report' last Thursday, he said that he felt the Karori community wanted a local policeman ... "but not next door!" Because of the alleged noise, and radio interference and constant activity that would result from having a
local policeman living or operating from a house next door, people would prefer that the police house and station be somewhere else ... "preferably down the road," he said. For the time being Marty is. operating from the Central Police Station in Wellington.
