Sport and Recreation Grants
Ruapehu ParentTeacher's Association is to receive $750 from the Waimarino District Joint Consultative Committee for Sports and Recreation. The money was allocated by the committee, which consisted of two representatives from each of the Ohakune and Raetihi Boroughs, and the Waimarino County Council, for darkout curtains on the new stage at Ruapehu College. A total of $4,270 was granted to the committee by
the Internal Affairs Department, that amount was in turn shared out to twelve local organisations. Their names along with details of their projects and amounts granted are as follows: Mareikura Family Polynesian Group $200 (stage lights), Maungarongo Marae Trustees Committee $500 (new linoleum for Marae hall), Ohakune Bowling Club $150 (new tables and chairs fSrpavilion), Ruapehu College PTA $750 (new dark-out curtains for hall),
Raetihi Amateur Swimming Club $500 (pool cover), Raetihi Play Centre $400 (outdoorequipment), Turoa Tumblers $500 (folding landing mats), Waimarino Gun Club $300 (upgrade facilities in kitchen and clubhouse), Waimarino Smallbore Rifle Club $450 (purchase second hand viewing scope for coaching purposes), Waimarino Squash Club $150 (kitchen renovations), Whanake Rangataua Karate $200 (trainingequipment), Raetihi Pony Club $ 1 70 (equipment).
