Racing with BULLY

News of the week must bt the announcement by the Totalisator Agency Board that the Ohakune branch of the TAB will be closed as at the end of business on 6 October 1984. In future all TAB business will be conducted from the premises of Skiers Inn owned and operated by Mr John Nation as from 8 October. This cost-cutting move by the TAB, while probably a sound decision as far as outlay is concerned is hardly likely to be received

by this area's punters with a great deal of enthusiasm. We have all come to appreciate the roomy facilities we have at present but obviously we will eventually adapt to the new surroundings. I am certain Mr Nation and his staff will provide the same excellent service we have been receiving from Mrs Shirley Nicol. This system of placing TAB's in shops has been mooted for a little while and I recently had the opportunity to visit the TAB in Hunterville where business is now operated from a local take-away bar. I think most would agree that it is better to be in a dairy type shop than a licensed Hotel which has been suggested a lot lately. Getting back on to the horses, I have sorted out several you may wish to place in your hat band or the back of your purse for easy reference over the next few weeks. Most of these

neddies will appreciate the better tracks and weather. Aldee, A1 Dwain, All Sevens, Anbanda, Black Visa, Bridge Player, Burletta, Cara Dee, Cariere, Clansman, Decanka, E1 Mar, Fantastic, Fresca, Gay King, Glenslide, Grand Slide, Indeed, Irish Charger, Just A Devil, Kerryman, Kev's Boy, Lackland, Lens, Le Shah, Lord Raywood, McGettigan. Mikotahi, Morvern Hine, Nazman. More will be in next week's list. Racing this week will be the Marton Jockey Club racing at Awapuni and Silver Elm and Go Mama could be good bets, both being trained at Awapuni. Watch the Evan Rayner team from the old Marton racecourse too for they invariably perform well at their own meeting. Remember Bully tips them first and you will read it in the Bulletirt.
