Local gun club members do well
Taumarunui Gun Club held its first day of championships on Sunday 2 September in perfect conditions. A team of New Plymouth shooters travelled to contest 3 championships, a Memorial Cup and a team shield bringing the total of competitors to 35. Several members of the Waimarino Gun Club also competed. Highpheasant championship lst A Grade G, Brears (TMN) 18, 2nd A Grade J. Walker 12, lst B Grade J. Dempsey (W) 13, 2nd B Grade J. Dobson (W) 13, lst C Grade B. Woodward (NP) 17, 2nd C Grade B. Maracich (T) 15. 10 Target Eyeopener 1 possible G. Brears (TMN). Miles Team Shoot won by Taumarunui with 73/75.
25 Target Pointscore Championship lst A Grade E. Sommerville (W) 75 / 75, 2nd A Grade G. Brears (TMN) 74/75, lst B Grade J. Corbett (TMN) 68/75, 2nd B Grade B. Horter (NP) 66/75, lst C Grade B. Woodward (NP) 67/75, 2nd C Grade G. Martin (W) 61/75. 15 Target Harris Cup possibles J. grace, J. Dobson (W), J. Walker and S. Redmayne, after a shootoff J. Dobson (W) was first and J. Grace runner-up. Singie Barrel Championship A Grade after a shoot-off with 14/15 lst G. Brears (TMN), 2nd S. Redmayne (TMN), B Grade lst with a possible J. Grace (TMN), 2nd B. Horter (NP) 14, C Grade lst B. Woodward (NP) 1 3, 2nd R. Martin (W) 13.
