Foundations poured for giant carrot
It has been revealed that the unveiling ceremony for Ohakune's 'Big Carrot' will take place on Saturday 29 September. Spokesman for the Growers' Association, Terry Drayton, said last week that the Association want the unveiling to be a 'showpiece event' for the town and, with that in mind, would like to enlist as many people as possible to take part in the extravaganza.
The entertainment will involve different sectors of the community and will include competitions prior to the unveiling at Rochfort Park.
As Terry Drayton said, the carrot will be a significant feature of Ohakune and the community's involvement is important.
