INDOOR SOCCER

On Wednesday nights the Ruapehu College Community Gym is the venue for the fast, flowing, five-a-side soccer. Six local teams are now into the second round of competition, with the 'Warriors' clearly the team to ' beat. Made up of members of Waimarino United, the Warriors' ball skills and agile 'keeper are keeping them at the head of the table. Five-a-side is all but non stop action. There are no 'outs' or off-sides, and the whistle goes only for goals, balls over shoulder height, and hand ball. Games last a half hour, with no break between ends.

The next round begins on 22 August. Any groups considering forming a team should chat to organisers Tom Ball or John Laurenson. Teams contesting the current round include: Mountain Madness, Slugs, Flintstones, Dynamite and Post Office.
