Bulletin circulation up
Demand for the Waimarino Bulletin means that our circulation has had to be increased to 3,400 copies a week over the school holidays — almost 31% up on our original circulation when we first launched the paper in June 1983. "When we began the newspaper 15 months ago, 2,600 copies a week were adequate," said publisher John Sandford last week. "Demand for the Bulletin has continued to grow even though we have not extended our circulation boundary." "Over the last 3 months we have been running 3,050 copies a week which is more than 17% up on our original print run. Even with that number most distribution points are out of Bulletins early in the week." "Increasing demand for the influx of visitors over the school holidays means we have had to print even more
copies to ensure that both residents and visitors get their copy of the local newspaper." "Increased readership of the Bulletin has another benefit,"explained Mr Sandford. "Because the Bulletin is so well read throughout the community, advertisers are getting very good results from the newspaper." "Growing advertising support because of this success means bigger newspapers each week and therefore more space for coverage of news items from the Ruapehu regiop." A readership survey recently conducted through the pages of the Bulletin and in personal interviews by Business Management students from the University of Waikato will provide valuable information on ways that the Bulletin can improve its service to the community even further.
