Local 'stars' feature in television commercial

An Ohakune drapery and one of its staff will feature in a 60-second television commercial which is due to be screened in early October. Buck's Drapery and staff member Bill Tekaru will be seen in this TV advertisement for 'Stubbies' — a line of boys' shorts from Bradmill Industries (NZ) Ltd.

A cast of eight and a film crew of ten spent the weekend of 4/5 August in Ohakune filming several sequences in which an ancient Chevrolet (driven by Bill Cole of Horopito Motors) arrives with 'Granny' and a horde of grandchildren to be outfitted with 'Stubbie's shorts.

The film company shooting the sequences (UNO Productions of Newmarket, Auckland) and Bradmill's advertising agents (Leo Burnett of Auckland) had searched far and wide for a drapery that had a genuine old fashioned atmosphere of yesteryear. They found it in Ohakune.
