The 'Big Carrot'
Since the Growers Association first mooted their plans to plant an oversized vegetable for 'advertising purposes' in the township of Ohakune there have been both negative and positive reactions. Personally we are very strongly opposed to the idea. When we were informed that our Council members had voted to ERECT a 7.5 metre carrot on the triangle of land adjacent to the Turoa Skifields Information Office our reaction was one of complete disbelief.. Over the
years this area has been nurtured and landscaped into an attractive and natural entrance to the township. We are frankly amazed that they would even consider putting this phallic symbol anywhere near Ohakune, let alone in the middle of this picturesque garden. Come on, Ohakune, do you want your town to be the laughing stock of New Zealand. Join us in preventing this monstrosity from invading us.
