For 'Ohakune' read 'Rotorua'
In response to a letter from the Mayor of Ohakune, Bill Taylor, to TVNZ to have Ohakune included on the television weather map, Mr Taylor quoted from a reply he had received from the editor of TV News in Wellington. In declining the request.
TVNZ said that Rotorua 's weather readings 'served as a point of reference for the central North Island'. Amid the laughter and howls of protest, one councillor was heard to say "Someone at TVNZ obviously needs a lesson in geography."
