Farewell Evening The newly formed 'Cosie Club steering group' hosted a belated farewell evening for a former Cosmopolitan committee member, Mr Barry Dodds, and his wife Robyn, on Saturday 30 June. Barry, a former employee of the Tongariro Timber Company, was presented with two silver goblets. Club President Mr Cecil Forbes thanked Barry for his enthusiasm and the time given during the critical stages of the Club's redevelopment programme. The occasion was concluded with a superb supper. The 40 members and their two special guests, thoroughly enjoyed the evening which didn't finish until well into the small hours. Barry and Robyn nowlive in Taringamutu north of Taumarunui, where Barry works as a mechanic for a helicopter firm. Cubs and Scouts Eight-year old Misty Smith and Daryn Byford, received their new cub scarves at a combined investiture ceremony on Thursday evening 28 June in the National Park football hall. Eleven-year old cubs, Rongo Wade, Michael Buckland and Brad Piper, declared their intentions to join scouts to an audience of 50 cubs and scouts and about 20 parents and visitors. After which David Wettering, Jason Sharp, Leon Henderson and Michael Kereopa were duly accepted as newly invested senior scouts. Mrs Marilyn Hurley scout leader from Taumarunui then briefed everyone on the„strict requirements and paces the National Park scouts would be subjected to at an orienteering competition to be held in Taumarunui 11/12 August.
