Local spirit strong — Mayor

Ohakune's Mayor Bill Taylor praised the borough's community spirit when he presented a $ 1 , 1 24 cheque to the Callaghan family last Friday. Local residents have also donated goods and chattels to the family whose Tainui Street home was destroyed by fire late last month. "And there is more still to come," says Mr Taylor. "I want to express my appreciation for everyone who contributed so generously. It shows the strength of our community spirit," he said. The appeal is still open to anyone wishing to contribute, Mr Taylor said.
