Facelift planned for Waimarino mortuary
The Wanganui Hospital Board's new executive team expressed concern over the condition of the Waimarino Hospital mortuary last week. The three-member group, which visited Waimarino on a familiarisation tour on Wednesday, agreed upgrad, ing the mortuary was a priority. That work would be placed on the capital works
programme, the chief executive, Mr Jon Boyack, said. This would involve a major renovation or an immediate improvement of the room's appearance with a screen and more fittings. Mr Boyack indicated the latter course was more likely in the interests of the public. It is understood the present facilities have caused some distress to people identifying the bodies of relatives.
