SOCCER
Some good soccer was seen at the Primary School grounds on Sunday 24 June when Taumarunui fielded two teams against the Ohakune Club. The senior match was a fast and exciting game with both
teams evenly matehed. Taumarunui were unlucky to concede an own goal in the first half and Ohakune followed this up with two excellent goals by Anthony Callaghan. Taumarunui fought back with goals by Dallas Hayvice and Matthew Varton but could not equalise and the final score was Ohakune 3 Taumarunui 2. In the junior match Taumarunui opened with a goal by Anton Woitasek and then continued to apply pressure for the remainder of the match. Only determined defence and gritty goalkeeping by Ohakune's Carl Ram kept Taumarunui out. Final score Taumarunui 1 Ohakune 0.
