FIRE APPEAL LAUNCHED BY MAYOR OF OHAKUNE
The Mayor of Ohakune, Mr Bill Taylor, has addressed the following appeal to all residents. Last Monday night the Callaghan family of Tainui Street experienced a tragedy that, of course, can affect us all; their home and all contents were destroyed by fire. I am appealing to everyone in the community to help Mr and Mrs Callaghan and their children. Little need be said about what is needed by the family. Donations of cash, clothing, household goods and furniture would all be most welcome. I know that the community will 'get in behind' such an appeal to help a family in need and that little more needs saying. Donations of cash may be made at either the Council offices or at either the Bank
of NewZealand or Wanganui Savings Bank. Furniture, household goods or any sort of clothing may be delivered to 26 Tainui Street, a house belonging to Ruapehu
College which has generously been given to the family for the next month or so. Our sympathy goes out to this family. Let us now demonstrate this sympathy in a practical way.
