Flouridation

Flouridating the Ohakune Water Supply is the only solution to reducing the high rate of dental decay in the area. Flouride is quite safe so long as the dosage administered in water supplies is one part per million. There is no evidence to support claims that excess flouride causes kidney damage, calcification of soft tissues, brittle bones and enzyme malfunctions. The Swedish Government set up a Commission in 1 976 to study the pros and cons of flouridating water supplies. The Commission met for 5 years and finally concluded that there was no proven medical or dental objections to flouridation. Reforming public health measures, proper water supplies and sewerage systems would never have been implemented if people opposed them as they do flouridated water supplies. It is almost impossible to avoid the consumption of fermentable carbohydrates which cause dental decay, therefore one must rely upon flouride to reduce the decay rate. Go ahead Ohakune, flouridate your Water Supply.
