Ohakune Bridge Club members win regional tournament

Three pairs of Ohakune Bridge Club members travelled to Wanganui on Saturday 26 May to compete in the Regional Bridge T ournament and one pair — Ron Frew and Brian Eades — won the competition. Forty-four pairs from the southern region of the North Island — from Wellington to Stratford and across to Hastings participated in the all-day tournament. The other two Ohakune pairs — Bernie Vella/Kay Hammond and Heather Cranston/Kay Wallis also

did well in the tournament. Heather Cranston and Kay Wallis came eighth while Bernie Vella and Kay Hammond were placed 31st out of the 44 teams. The winners, Ron Frew and Brian Eades have been playing regularly as a pair for about two years and this regular partnership no doubt contributed to their success. The Ohakune Bridge club meets every Wednesday night ' with an average attendance of 20 players and a number of new members continuing to appear.
