Racing academy programme announced

Turoa Skifields in association with the Turoa Alpine Ski Club is happy to announce the sponsorship of the Turoa Race Academy by Fresh Up. Fresh Up, their juice products and their motto "Go for it 1 00%" will make a significant contribution to the Turoa Race Academy. Skiers interested in a full season of intensive coaching should contact the Turoa Race Academy. Additional sponsorship for ski racing has been obtained from McDonalds. They will sponsor the McDonalds Cup and junior (under-1 5) ski race scheduled 18-19 August at Turoa. This will be a junior race open to any junior skier in the North Island. Rossignol-Lange will sponsor one of the elite North island Circuit Races, the Grimwade Cup. Sir Andrew Grimwade a former director of ACI was very instrumental in the development of Turoa Skifields. The Grimwade Cup sponsored by Rossignol-Lange is scheduled in his honour 26 August. Homestyle Bakeries is returning again to sponsor the Homestyle Cup 25 August. This also is a North Island Circuit Race. Homestyle has been supporting ski racing for a number of years on Turoa Skifields. NZSTAR, the Coca Cola recreational rape series will again be held at Turoa. An event is scheduled at least

once midweek and once on the weekend of every week during the season. Turoa Ski Academy utilises the concept of intense ski instruction over a 5-day period. Skiing ability can be dramatically improved through a serie's of midweek programmes Monday to Friday, which are scheduled throughout the season and designed to cater for all levels of skiers. Interest in the programme has grown to the point where an expanded Academy is necessary to cope with the demand. This coming season the Academy, under the experienced directorship of John Ball, has scheduled additional ski weeks to provide for those skiers keen to improve. As well, new half day academy programmes have been scheduled in the August school holiday period, for both adult and junior skiers.
