Whakapapa... a 'skiers mountain'

"Whakapapa is a 'Skiers Mountain' in the truest sense of the phrase, It has been developed for skiers, by skiers, with skiers money," said ScOtt Lee, marketing consultant for Ruapehu Alpine Lifts. Since its incorporation in 1953 skiers money (by way of shares) has been used to

develop the facilities. Now that R.A.L. makes a profit each year all excess revenue is ploughed back into developing the best possible facilities and amenities demanded by today's skiing public. Whakapapa has more uphill facilities than any other skifield in this country

yet it offers the cheapest liftticket price of any of the major skifields. The Directors are unpaid and they all take an active interest in skiing. They are in it for the love of the sport

and after skiing on Whakapapa we're sure you will agree, they have developed a mountain that is a true asset to skiing and our tourism industry, said Scott Lee.
