COLDEST TEMPERATURE RECORDED THIS YEAR

Last Monday night was the coldest so far this year in the Waimarino ... as if anyone needed reminding! On the night of Monday 21/22 May the Ohakune Ranger Station recorded a ground temperature of minus 6.8° C and an air temperature of minus 1 .5° C. That night in Waiouru was even colder: minus 8.5° C ground and minus 3.2° C air. The lowest temperature recorded in Ohakune last year was on the 26 July when a grass minimum of minus 1 0. 9° C and a air temperature of minus 7° C was recorded by the Ohakune Ranger Station.
