WINTER WONDERLAND

Ruatiti Domain Approximately 30 minutes . from Ohakune. A superb scenic drive through bush covered valleys lining the Manganui-a-Te-Ao River. The road ends at the domain itself offering deep swimming pools, barbecues, bush walks and fishing.

Waimarino Museum This museum, situated at Raetihi, is not fully manned. However by phoning Jack Somerville on Raetihi 54649, interested spectators can view the development of the Waimarino region. It is open from 2 to 4 p.m. Qn Sunday afternoon.

Turangi The trout fishing available in the vicinity of Turangi is undoubtedly among the best in the world. Within a 20 minute drive radius of the town you can choose to fish in a small tumbling crystal clear mountain stream or battle the current in a turbulent major river or enjoy the quiet serenity of a small lake, or fish the deep still waters of Lake Taupo. All in all, the beautiful Ruapehu region has much to offer its visitors. Indeed we hope that the snow is plentiful on Mount Ruapehu so that skiers can enjoy themselves to their heart's content, and that the weekend for those nonskiers amongst you is also a pleasant one.
