New furniture store opens in Raetihi

A long-established Taihape furniture manufacturing business and retail store is soon to open a branch in Raetihi's main street. K.G. Bennett has been operating its single store and factory in Taihape for the past 26 years ... the Seddon Street branch in Raetihi will be its first in another centre.

Situated in the former Oliver Building (until recently Ruapehu Linen Services) Bennetts of Raetihi will stock a full range of both soft and hard furniture, carpets, curtains, upholstery fabrics, linos and bedding. It will have a staff of 2-3 — presently employed in

Taihape — who will move up and live in Raetihi. "It seems to nfekc sense opening up a branch in the Waimarino," said the firm's founder and general manager, Keith Bennett, when he^spoketo th eBulletin last week. "We already do a lot of

lino and carpet laying work up here and, after exhibiting at this year's Desert Fair in Waiouru where we took up a lot of enquiries from people in the Waimarino, we decided ' to extend our services into this area which lacks any comparable furniture retail store."
