Woodworking tools wanted for Tonga

The Ohakune/ Raetihi branch of Rotary are currently working on a project to send woodworking tools to St Andrew's School in Nuku'alofa, Tonga. The request from the headmaster, Vili Veti, was met with great enthusiasm locally with the proviso that the school assist in the fund raising by sending out Tongan handcrafts to be sold locally. The profits from their sale are to assist in purchasing enough tools

to equip twenty benches. Whilst the saies have been pleasing, it was felt that an extra push was needed. Therefore on Saturday 26 May, Rotary will be selling the Tongan handcrafts at a fleamarket to be held at the Ohakune Primary School Hall. In addition, Rotary are also asking whether locals have any old hand tools lying around that are no longer useful. (See Public Notices).
