Racing with BULLY

It is very bad luck for the Wanganui trainer, Eion Jones to lose the services of the previous Grand National Hurdle winner, Sebastiano. Up until now, Sebastiano had been showing fine form on the comeback trail and it looked as though he was in for another very good year, but it now appears a bone chip in the horse's knee is causing a serious problem. Another Wanganui jumper set for the big ones this year is Dearest Hope and she is a very promising candidate indeed. From Foxton comes news that Belle of Gold is working like

a winner and her return to the track will be watched with interest. From Feilding it seems as though John Mudgway has got the winning polish back on Lord Trappeur and he could do very well at the Poverty Bay meeting. Choir Path won the 1400 metre open class trial at Feilding recently and should be kept in mind over the next few starts. Our spy in the Waikato is up and about again and he reports that at Te Awamutu there is much interest in the jumper Resolution and the speedsters Tessa Dream and Lotus Nymph. Resolution is confidentially expected to

take both the Waikato and Great Northern double. At Matamata Abekas is getting through his work in grand style. Well, after a most exciting contest for the jockey premiership it now appears that Gary Phillips is making a break on the field after his sensational performance over Easter. He leads with 81 followed by Jim Cassidy on 74 and David Walsh on 72. Maree Lyndon is still in with a slim chance on 66 while Shane Dye is making a late dab with 64. One for the ladies ... it should win anytime now is Bidston Hill ... remember Bully tips them first in the Bulletin.
