• Garrick Workman, Mayor of Raetihi, was installed as a Justice of the Peace when he swore the oath of allegiance in the Ohakune District Court last Thursday 19 April. Judge E.W. Unwin congratulated Mr Workman and stressed the "valuable support role that JP's play in the community." ★ ★ ★ • Peter Cromwell, aformer resident of Ohakune until he left three months ago, received one of the four merit prizes in the Wanganui Sportsperson of the Year Awards held last Sunday week in Wanganui. Skifields leaves tomorrow for a week in Melbourne where he will be promoting New Zealand's North Island skiing facilities , at the Melbourne 'Snow Show'. * ★ ★ • Brett Sutton, Ohakune Hotel's chef for the past 4 years, is leaving for Wanganui today where he will be rejoining Ross and Gail Henry, former managers of the Ohakune Hotel, at the Rutland Hotel which they took over last month. ★ ★ ★ • Turoa Skifield's hand- " some new promotional publication 'Ski Turoa — it's a whole different world' is now ava'ilable and will be distributed throughout New Zealand, Australian and other international ski agency outlets. Turoa Skifields have printed 45,000 of these glossy full colour 18page large format booklets.
