Tongariro National Park to benefit

Tongariro National Park's chief ranger, Bruce Jeffries, says that the park will probably benefit to the extent of about $30,000$40,000 as its allocation of funds from the government's 2:1 subsidy scheme for national parks and reserves. A total of more than $310,000 is expected to be available for the nation's ten parks and reserves this year ... the public donations amounted to about $1 50,000. "Apart from some of the funds which are already committed to donor-specified projects, we will probably spend the remainder of our allocation on some form of visitor services, said Mr Jeffries."
