Waimarino wasp scourge

The weekend before last it seemed as if a plague of wasps had descended on Ohakune with thousands of the. striped pests hovering round rubbish and litter bins ... particularly those outside dairies.

One explanation for the possible 'plague' was the very heavy rain which fell over the weekend ... this might have caused the wasp colonies to leave their flooded nests in the ground.
