Fine, warm weather, excellent course conditions arfd a reasonabie number of players made a good start for the 1984 winter season. A greensome foursomes drawn partners competition was held with V. Darroch and T. Geraghty best with a nett 51 Vi. Runners up were A. Swarbrick and B. Cranston with 59 nett. A 4ball best-ball par competition was held for the extra men (drawn partners) with the 'pure' combination of I. Strachan and J . Cranston scoring 1 2 up followed by R. Wise and S. Magee and R. Te Moana and P. Goldfinch both combinations 9 up. Two's were scored by A.R. Brown, B. Robinson and T. Geraghty. Summer competition trophies were also handed out with the eclectic going to R. Southee 52 nett, runner-up S. Magee 53'/$ nett. Twilight Golf (3 best stableford - 9 holes) Men: A. Berridge 69, runner-up T. Tapp 68. Ladies: G. Fraser 62, runner-up R. Goile 60. Summer golf points competition R. Pearson, runnerup S. Magee. Two's competition R. Southee on the toss from S. Magee.
