Court registrar promoted and moves to Wellington

At this month's sitting of the Ohakune District Court a familiar face will be Piissing — that of Erin rady, court registrar. Yesterday he moved to Wellington where he has

been appointed assistant to the Court Manager for Wellington and the lower North Island region. Mr Brady, who for the past nine years had lived in Taihape, has been deeply

involved in local community work as well as church and school affairs and was a Taihape borough councillor for three years from 1977 to 1980. But it will be in his role as court registrar at the Ohakune District Court hearings that he will be remembered best in the Waimarino. He counts the retention of the Ohakune Courthouse as one of the most satisfying aspects of his tour of duty in this region — he had come to Taihape from Invercargill. In the past nine years he has helped win the battle to have the Ohakune Courthouse reopened after it (and many others in country areas) had been closed down in the early '80's. No longer do people in the Waimarino have to travel out of the district to attend court hearings and the old court building itself has been updated and refurbished.
