Rifle club revival?
With the increasing number of people interested in sporting activities in the Waimarino, there has been renewed interest shown in re-forming the Waimarino Smallbore Rifle Club. The club went into recess a number of years ago because of inadequate range facilities and falling membership. HoweVer, a more appropriate venue is now available and it is hoped that it may accommodate more shooters at one time than in the past. The smallbore season is
usually from the end of March until August/September with one night a week for club shooting. The club still owns a number of rifles and equipment which will be available for members' use. Men and women of the district who are interested are invited to attend a public meeting to finalise arrangements for the club's future. This meeting will be held on Wednesday evening 7 March at the Rangataua Hall at 8 p.m.
