Orautoha School Prizes

Orautoha School pupils, all 21 of them plus parents and friends attended the school prizegiving in December. Form 2 pupils Peter Fahey, Gail Forbes, Robert Herewini and Wendy Olds were presented with a dictionary each. Awards for improvement and consistent effort were presented to Kelvin HamAd (junior), Cathryn ^^Wer (middle) and Wendy Olds (senior). School committee chairman Gerald Olds officiated at the prizegiving. The Rev. Bob Peck presented a Bible

to the school library and commented on the happy school environment at Orautoha. He felt 'that this was due to the quality of life that children and adults were able to lead in the valley. Mrs Dorothy McNie presented a cheque to the school from the proceeds of the school's 75th anniversary celebrations along with a montage of the decade photos taken at those celebrations. School principal David Niven accepted these gifts gratefully on behalf of the school.
