TV violence in New Zealand

Television New Zealand has the dubious distinction of screening the highest proportion of violent programmes in the world. In a world-wide survey conducted in November 1983 it was found that on

average TV1 screened over six violent acts per hour and TV2 over five violent acts per hour. Most of the violent acts were contained in imported American programmes.
