Annual awards dinner

The 1983 Ruapehu Jaycees Awards Dinner was held at the Cafe Stua in Ohakune on Thursday 24 November. Among the 44 members and invited guests were the Jaycee's regional governor, John Chappell, from Palmerston North and district governor, Colin Whitelock, from Wanganui. "It was a really fantastic evening" said Ruapehu Jaycee president Graeme Cole, "with great food, good company and lots of awards and trophies. Our normal awards dinners are usually attended by about 27 people

but last Thursday night we had 44 and we couldn't have coped with many more," he said. Graeme Cole who retires as president at the end of this year to become immediate-past-president when pres-ident-elect Marty Sutherland takes over, said that the local Jaycees have received excellent support this year. Following an auction in October and after fundraising activities the Ruapehu Jaycees have now colected enough money. A special certificate of appreciation was presented to the 'Cafe Stua'. A special certificate of appreciation was also presented to president Graeme Cole for services rendered to the Aotea Region of the N.Z. Jaycees.
