Social Credit selects King Country candidate

Social Credit's candidate for the King Country electorate will again be Mr Derek Mason, 52, of Te Kuiti. A beef and sheep farmer, Mr Mason has represented Social Credit in the King Country electorate since 1972. In that time his share of the vote has gone from 17% (1975) to 26% (1978) to

nearly 36% in 1981. In that last election he I polled second, only 2158 I votes behind the sitting MP I Mr Bolger, with Labour in I third place 3319 votes I further back. Mr Mason is Social I Credit's spokesman on I farming affairs including I livestock, pastoral, agricul- I tural and horticultural I matters.
