Waimarino Golf
No club golf on the weekend of 1 9, 20 November. On Saturday the club hosted the club champions from the Wanganui-Manawatu As-* spciation for the Chamberlain Shield. Played over 36 holes, teams of three, Aggregate Medal Play. The course was in good order, the weather perfect and some good scores were recorded. The local team showed good consistency to come out the winners. They were G. Russell (senior) 70-72, S. Magee (intermediate) 71-72, D. Herewini 70-73 (junior), total 428. Foxton were second on 432. Palmerston North on the toss from Marton were
third with 438. Individual gross winners were N. Gaskin (senior), Levin, 147. M. Marr (intermediate), Wanganui, 159. D. Taylor (junior), Foxton 169. On Sunday the annual Central Districts Railways Tournament was held, with the weather again perfect. The scoring was not quite as good as the previous day but an enjoyable time was had by all. Jim Gibb came over from Taupo and picked up the 27 hole Senior Nett Trophy and all the locally invited players, President Ian Strachanand Betty, Captain Terry Geraghty and Francie and Treasurer Stuart Magee picked up trophies.
