Delegates from Waimarino schools meet local M.P.

A group of delegales from local primary schools and representing the Ruapehu Branch of NZEI (New Zealand Educational Institute) met with King Country MP Mr Bolger to express concern about the government's proposed changes to their negotiating position. Teachers, like many other state servants, feel that the Amendment to the State Services Conditions of Employment Bill, willdeny them the right to negotiate with their employer if that employer is also the law-maker who can change the rules. This group of teachers from Waiouru, Ohakune and Raetihi Primary Schools are seen-outside the Ohakune Borough Council Chambers after their meeting with Mr Bolger on Saturday 19 November. The Bill had its third reading in the House last week and now only awaiti the Governor- General 's signature to become law.
