High river level
The Wanganui River recorded it'shighest level for two years at Pipiriki on Tuesday 8 November said Rangitikei-Wanganui Catchment Board engineer, Mr D. ^fcpence. At 10 p.m. the river ^^vel was 7.2m (riearly 24 feet) above the low summer water level. The high level had been caused by steady rather than by heavy rain over the entire catchment area. In the winter of 1981 a 7.4m level was recorded.
