COMMUNITY COLLEGE PRINCIPAL APPOINTED
The Wanganui Regional Community College has appointed its first principal. He is Mr John Scott, 38, who will be taking up his new appointment early in the New Year. He is currently head of the arts and community studies department at the Southland Regional Community College, a position he has held for nearly 5 years. Mr Scott was one of three candidates — all from the South Island — who were chosen from the original 15 applicants, to attend final selection interviews in Wanganui. He has a Bachelor of Arts , degree, a diploma in teaching and a diploma in education. Since 1969 he has taught at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. He and his wife Dawn spent two-and-a-half years overseas travelling in the United States, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, India, Nepal and Australia. While in England they both worked as teachers. Mr Scott also has interests in music, photo- . graphy and painting. He has had five one-man shows of his paintings — three in Christchurch and two in Invercargill. The Waimarino's representative on the Wanganui Regional Community College Council, Mr Bill Taylor of Ohakune, who was one of the final selection panel said that he was very impressed with M rScotts 'great vitality and enthusiasm'. "1 am sure Mr Scott will fulfill every requirement expected of. Wanganui Regional Community College 's first prinicpal", he said.
