Be warned

Owners of unregistered dogs in the Waimarino County and the Raetihi and Ohakune Boroughs have been given a choice either get their dogs registered or be prosecuted without further notice. That is the message from Hydatids Control Officer, Mr H.G. Wise, through the county and bo rough councils. "The dog problem has been getting out of hand in Raetihi" said borough foreman Kevin Miller recently and similar problems are being experienced elsewhere. This is because some dog owners are presenting only their registered dogs for aosing and leaving the others at home, said Mr Wise. New dosing cards will require owners to present all their dogs and then both boroughs and the coui^^^ will be patrolled by Mr and locaF dog rangers for unregistered dogs. The reason for having both officers acting together is to provide a witness in the event of a prosecution being laid against owners of unregistered dogs.
